I grew up in deep South Texas, surrounded by a family that understood the importance of faith and taught me daily what it was like to live a Christian lifestyle. Their love and encouragement allowed me to come to know Jesus at a young age, and that decision has and will continue to change my life in ways I can't ever fully comprehend.
The Lord's guidance led me to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 2013, and it was there that I studied Psychology and Criminal Justice. I'd known for a long time that my calling was to be of service to others, and the Lord placed me on a trajectory to do just that. After I graduated in 2017, the Lord laid a desire on my heart to serve within the foster care community. I worked as a case manager at a Christian foster care agency for two years, and I don't have words to adequately describe the faithfulness I witnessed from God in those two years. My faith deepened and matured while I served in foster care; I learned so much about the intricacies of our lives and saw God's steadfast love in countless ways every day.
While working, I was also pursuing a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I'd been feeling a strong encouragement from God to pursue a career as a counselor, and in 2019, I left the foster care environment to fully pursue counseling. Unfortunately, the pandemic hit not long after and my schooling was paused due to shut-downs. However, this opened the door for me to consider other paths, and in March of 2021, I began to serve here at TVBC. It is a truly special opportunity to serve my church home in this capacity, and I am so thankful for the Lord's guidance that got me here.
