Adults

The Adult Ministry at Taylor’s Valley Baptist Church is a far reaching ministry that covers a multitude of relational and life span groupings and certainly has a place for any adult.
Life groups for adults meet at 9:30 AM and 11 AM on Sunday mornings throughout the building to enjoy a time of friendship and have Bible study. The Adult Ministry continues on Wednesday nights with a fellowship meal at 5:15 PM followed by Bible Study sessions at 6:15 PM. These sessions cover a wide range of topics that intertwine scripture with our daily lives to aid is in our living out of the gospel. Adult life groups also gather routinely for game nights, holiday parties, and connection events.

The Adult Ministry continues on Wednesday nights with a fellowship meal followed by Bible Study sessions.

Life Group at 9:30 and 11:00 a.m.

Adult life groups meet on Sunday mornings throughout the building to enjoy a time of friendship and have Bible study.

 

Sunday Morning Life Groups

9:30 a.m. Life Groups

  • A men’s class that welcomes all ages. Typically our class has an age range of 50+. We follow the Explore the Bible curriculum.

    Taught by Bob Holland. Meets in Room 105 at 9:30 AM. 


  • A class for all comers with singles and couples alike, typically ranging in age from late 30s to 50s. We follow The Gospel Project curriculum.

    Taught by Dennis and Dianne Arwood. Meets in Room 302 at 9:30 AM.


  • A senior adult class for singles and couples alike, typically ages 60+. We follow the Explore the Bible curriculum.

    Taught by Bob Wilson. Meets in Room 303 at 9:30 AM.


  •  A senior ladies class with a typical age range of 70+. We follow the Explore the Bible curriculum.

    Taught by Kathleen Holland. Meets in Room 304 at 9:30 AM. 


  • Our group is primarily comprised of folks in their 30s and 40s, but all are welcome! We follow a Lifeway Study Material and examine what the Bible is telling us about our lives today from a standpoint of “People Don’t Change”: the challenges and attitudes we face today have been the same throughout history.

    Taught by Ben Shipp. Meets in Room 305 at 9:30 AM. 


  •  The Ruth Class are retired ladies, single and married, mostly with grown children and grands. We study the Lifeway "Explore the Bible Series" with the lead teacher and class discussion.  Those who wish, meet earlier to fellowship, and we usually eat out together monthly.  Our average attendance is 10 to 12 with 14 enrolled.  We eagerly welcome you! – Joann Loughlin, teacher

  • A class of predominantly couples in their 50s and 60s. Couples and singles of all ages are welcome as well! We follow the Explore the Bible curriculum.

    Taught by Danny Pullen, Chris Halpayne, Richard Hoeth, and Jim Hudson. Meets in Room 308 at 9:30 AM. 


  • Lydia Life Group is a discussion-based women's group for all ages. We read Bible study books and related passages from the Bible, while applying scripture to our lives. Our class attendance is around 20 women a week.

    Taught by Stella Cardenas. Meets in Room 406 at 9:30 AM. 


  • Cornerstone Life Group is composed of mature Christians interested in learning more about being a true disciple through in depth verse-by-verse study of Scripture. Using Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary as a starting point we engage in meaningful college level discussion. Our current teacher has two doctorates in theology. Most of our current members are mature adults. We welcome anyone to join us.

    Taught by John LaGrone. Meets in the Fellowship Hall at 9:30 AM. 


  • The Pathfinders Life Group is geared toward younger adults (typically ages 18-30) who want to learn more about applying Biblical principles to their everyday lives. We strive to uplift and encourage each other through the various stages of our spiritual walks. If you’re looking for Christian fellowship and genuine friendships, then Pathfinders is the place for you!

    Taught by Joe and Karla Braxton. Meets in the choir room at 9:30 AM.


11:00 a.m. Life Groups

  • LifePoint 2 is made up of couples and singles, predominantly ages 55 – 70s. We study books of the Bible taught in a verse-by-verse format, with the opportunity for input by class members. We use curriculum as a personal study option, allowing us to know the portion of scripture that will be highlighted each week. We have fellowships bi-monthly to help build relationships and an online prayer ministry to support one another.

    Taught by Debra Hochgraber. Meets in Room 308 at 11:00 AM. 


  • A verse-by-verse, discussion based class for all comers. We have singles and couples alike, and the typical age range of this class is 50+.

    Taught by Gale Lawler. Meets in the Fellowship Hall at 11:00 AM. 


  •  Our name, Faithful Followers, defines the goal and purpose of our class.  We endeavor to read, study, and apply Scripture in order to serve God more fully. Our class ranges in ages between 40 and 80, both couples and singles, who study the Explore the Bible curriculum from Lifeway. The format of the lessons is both verse by verse and discussion. One of the things that makes our group so special is that we truly enjoy being together while we study and fellowship. Everyone is welcome.

    Taught by Ginni Smith. Meets in the choir room at 11:00 AM. 


D2D

Join the Kingdom Movement by joining a D2D Group! Each D2D group picks a neighborhood or institution with the goal of transforming that area by engaging with them. This includes following the D2D Movement through a book produced by For All Mankind Ministry that focuses on how to go out to people in our community to form relationships and bring them to Christ.

Impact Teams

We believe followers of Jesus make a difference in the world and transform their local communities through humble service. Following Jesus means you will impact the culture and change lives for the kingdom. The goal of our IMPACT Team is to provide an opportunity for people to develop as a leader, fulfill their purpose, serve others, and impact the world through showing the love of Christ. We set aside Wednesdays to give special attention to IMPACT Team service, growth, and development. 

  • Our team prepares for and hosts the TVBC baptism experience.

  • The greeting team opens doors for people entering the sanctuary and provides a warm and smiling welcome for both regular attenders and guests alike.

  • Our team meets the hunger needs of our area by distributing groceries on Wednesday mornings.

  • Our team serves the youngest children of TVBC (birth-PreK) and gives them a safe place to begin to experience the love of Jesus. Requirements: Background check, 6 months of membership at TVBC.

  • Our team serves the children of TVBC (K-6th grade) and guides them as they begin their faith journey with Jesus. There are many different areas to serve. Requirements: Background check, 6 months of membership at TVBC.

  • Our team serves the youth of TVBC (Grades 7-12) and partners with them as they grow in their relationship with Jesus. There are many different ways in which to serve. Requirements: Background check, 6 months of membership at TVBC.

  • Our team serves the college-aged students of TVBC and walks alongside them as they enter adulthood.

  • Our team serves the members of TVBC by making phone calls to members who are needing special care.

  • Our Music Team serves to lead TVBC in worship. This team consists of choir, musicians, and worship team.

  • Our connections team serves TVBC by connecting with guests, collecting contact information, and helping guests connect with TVBC.

  • Our parking and valet team serve TVBC by directing parking lot traffic and valet parking vehicles for those members who utilize this service.

  • Our Prayer Team serves to pray for the needs of our church family, city, area, state, and world.

  • Our Production Team serves to produce media and visual design for TVBC. This includes camera work, online streaming, and sound.

  • Our Safety Team serves to monitor and protect TVBC. Requirements: Background check, 6 months of membership at TVBC.

  • Our ushers serve to help the attendees of TVBC Worship services. This includes meeting guests and helping them find a seat.
